Turn Right on Woodrow.
Turn Left on Quinn.
Go to the stop sign. This is where Quinn intersects with Old Butterfield Trail. There are no road signs at this intersection. Do not be afraid! TURN LEFT AT THE STOP SIGN. Susan's house is the first one on the right.

Sun Harvest Farms, 6100 N. Mesa, El Paso, TX 79912.
Time: 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. (or until everything is gone).
Help raise funds for the Vegetarian Society of El Paso while helping people experience just how delicious vegan baked goods can be!
Please support the Vegetarian Society by baking something for us to sell, helping staff the table, or simply stopping by to purchase a delicious cookie or cake.
We really need your help to make this the super successful (and tasty) outreach event that we know it can be! If you would like to help out: please contact Alison at volunteer@vsep.org or phone her at 1-864-237-7448 and let her know what (and how much) you would like to bake and/or what times you are available to staff the table.
Requirements for table staff: Knowledge of vegetarian issues to discuss with people and ability to count change. Also, a smile!
Requirements for baked goods: They need to be individually wrapped with the ingredients clearly labeled, and must be completely vegan (no honey, eggs, milk, etc.). You can donate an entire cake, loaf of bread, or pie, or you can choose to donate individually wrapped slices, cookies, or cupcakes. Bake your heart out! We would like to have a wide variety of items for people to choose from.
Please plan to drop off your baked goods at our table in front of Sun Harvest between 9:00 am and 10:30 am before the sale. If for some reason you cannot deliver your baked goods at this time, please contact us to see if we can make arrangements for delivery at another time or pick up.

Calendar of events
Why our events are vegan
The Lone Star Vegetarian Network, a loosely-knit group of Texas vegetarian societies, was formed in 1989. There were four members that first year: Austin, Houston, San Antonio and South Texas (Brazoria County). There are now ten groups from around the state. Contact among the groups is important and, while each group maintains full autonomy, it is agreed that all vegetarian events hosted by Network member societies will be vegan (meaning, of course, that no animal products, including dairy and eggs) will be served. Society members are not required to be vegan, but it has been agreed that it is not unreasonable to expect members to enjoy vegan food only at such events.
This rule has occasionally been questioned by lacto-ovo-vegetarians. However, this rule is important for all the very same reasons we don’t eat meat. We all know how frustrating it is to have to ask, “Is there lard/meat stock/etc.” The decision has been made to allow our growing vegan membership the opportunity not to have to worry about dairy or egg products in the food at Network events. Vegan events are both supportive and educational, and vegetarian organizations need to be on the cutting edge. Thank you for your support!

Potluck Guidelines
1. All dishes must be completely vegan. – no exceptions. Food must not contain any flesh (fish, fowl or beast), eggs, dairy products or honey. This rule guarantees that everyone can eat everything (allergies and preferences aside).
2. Please watch out for hidden milk products such as whey in cookies, crackers, bread and margarine, and casein or caseinate in "non-dairy" soy cheeses and whipped toppings. Some margarine contains gelatin. Also be alert for eggs in baked goods, mayonnaise in salad dressings, and honey in breads (wheat breads are notorious for this), pastries, and preserves.
3. Please prepare a 4x6 card with:
- your name
- the name of the dish
- a list of all ingredients
- the recipe on the back of the card
- indicate where the recipe came from or if it was original.
4. Prepare enough to serve ten (10) people. Please bring your own table setting as well as a serving utensil. If you don't feel like cooking, you may bring a green salad, fruit, tortilla chips and salsa, fruit salad, etc. Your host will provide drinks.
Message for all Restaurant Hopper Attendees: Please Read.
So far the hopper events have been a real success. They are well attended and enjoyed. I am happy that participation is up. However, I want to express the importance of showing up and showing up on time when you have made a reservation. This is especially important for those restaurants that are small or very busy on a Saturday night. The restaurants lose money if they reserve tables for us that are not occupied by our group. This also delays ordering as those who have already arrived continue to wait for those that have not and/or those not planning to show up. Those restaurants are then less likely to make a reservation for us on a Saturday night and thus limit our restaurant choices. Please also remember that you must have a reservation to be seated with the group as going over the head count may also cause an inconvenience for the restaurant. If you are making a reservation on the day of the deadline, please call, do not email me. I may not have a chance to be at my computer at the time I need to make the reservation, and you may get left out.
Another thing: Please order only vegetarian options. This helps newcomers see what vegetarians eat and the options that are available. Also, always make sure everything has been included in your tab and leave an adequate gratuity. Some restaurants automatically add the gratuity for a larger group – ask if you are unsure. Please be courteous to restaurant staff and other patrons. Finally, if you are unhappy with the service, let the Hopper coordinator know. If you are happy with the service, let the restaurant know! Enjoy! Thank you for your cooperation and continue enjoying our VSEP Hoppers!
~ Laura White, your event coordinator
Restaurant Hopper Courtesy Rules
- Please order only vegetarian options. This helps newcomers see what vegetarians eat and the options that are available.
- As seating on Fridays and Saturdays is usually limited, we need to give our restaurants a head count two to three days in advance of our event. You must reserve a place with the Hopper coordinator in order to be seated with our group. Late bookings are sometimes possible, but you must call the restaurant first and then advise the Hopper coordinator. If you must cancel, please call both the restaurant and the Hopper coordinator.
- We always request separate checks. Make sure everything has been included, and leave an adequate gratuity. Some restaurants automatically add the gratuity for a larger group – ask if you are unsure.
- It goes without saying, but please be polite to restaurant staff and other patrons.
- Finally, if you are unhappy with the service, let the Hopper coordinator know. If you are happy with the service, let the restaurant know!
- Enjoy!
